It was a big night for Bannister Downs Dairy at the 2025 Dairy Industry Association of Australia (DIAA) Western Australia Dairy Awards last Friday where the company received eight gold medals and two silver medals for the 10 products it entered.
The Northcliffe dairy claimed champion cream of the show for its Bannister Downs fresh cream, a title it has won four times in the last five years, while Bannister Downs’ new lactose free milk – a recent addition to the company’s product range – claimed the champion milk award.
Bannister Downs lactose free milk also won Champion Milk at the 2024 Perth Fine Food Awards, hosted by the Royal Agricultural Society.
The dairy said the awards are “a fantastic recognition for the hardworking team who are dedicated to producing the highest quality milk, cream, and flavoured milks for consumers to enjoy”.
Sue Daubney, managing director of Bannister Downs Dairy, expressed the company’s pride in these achievements.
“We are very proud to be recognised for producing premium-quality milk, cream, and flavoured milk,” she said.
“We make 11 different products each week, and for every product we entered to win a gold or silver medal is an outstanding achievement for our dedicated team.
“For our lactose free milk and delicious fresh cream to both be champions in the state dairy awards is a result that fills us all with pride.”
Gina Rinehart also shared her thoughts on the awards, celebrating the quality of Bannister Downs’ premium dairy range and emphasising the importance of Australian-produced dairy.
“Australia produces the best fresh dairy, and despite the many challenges currently faced by our agricultural industry, worsened by damaging government policies and increasing costs, achievements like these provide encouragement and confidence to the hardworking team,” she said.
“I’ve long believed in the importance of agriculture to our nation, and these awards demonstrate the excellence within the industry.”
Bannister Downs Dairy extended its thanks to the many volunteers of the DIAA, whose hours of dedication to organising the entries, judging, and awards event played a crucial role in supporting the dairy industry.
