Sky News Outsiders discussed Mrs Gina Rinehart’s $200 million initiative to address veteran homelessness, following the opening of new accommodation in Brisbane attended by Ben Roberts-Smith VC MG. The segment featured Ben Roberts-Smith thanking Mrs Rinehart for her generosity and advocacy on behalf of Australian veterans, alongside her call for unused Defence facilities to be opened to those without homes. The panel praised Mrs Rinehart’s wider philanthropic contributions to veterans, children’s hospitals and Australian sport, while criticising what they described as government inaction on veteran homelessness and the treatment of Mrs Rinehart by sections of the media.
